Bacillus coagulans is a Gram-positive, spore-producing lactic acid bacteria that combines the characteristics of both Bacillus and lactic acid bacteria and is widely used in fields such as food, medicine, and agriculture. It belongs to the genus Bacillus and is classified as "spore-forming lactic acid bacteria" because it can produce lactic acid and form heat-resistant spores. Rod-shaped, arranged singularly or in pairs, Gram-positive, and under certain conditions, endophytic spores are formed (with strong stress resistance). Facultative anaerobic, it generates L-lactic acid (rather than D-lactic acid in most lactic acid bacteria) by fermenting carbohydrates, does not produce gas, and has better compatibility with the intestinal tract. The spores can withstand high temperatures (such as 80-100℃) and the corrosion of gastric acid and bile, which is the key advantage that distinguishes them from common lactic acid bacteria. They have a high survival rate after oral administration.
